This was our fifth fly in , last Year we had 15 Power Parachutes at the event, this year we had close to same as last year. This year we had, 4 – Air Wolfs with Rotax 912 engines, 5 – Summits, 2 – Buckeyes, 1- Hornet, 1 – Pegasus, 1 – Six Chuter. We had Campers hooked up to RV parking, with Pilots coming in from Ontario through to Alberta, great times with good friends. This turned out to be a bit of a swap meet for Power Parachutes, from planes to regulators, to chutes, there was allot of swapping and selling, it was fun to watch. On Friday, morning we had an update from Transport Canada on the regulations for expired student pilot permits. Expired means you have No valid license, no insurance (even if you purchased 3 rd
party liability, it is not valid if your license is expired). On Saturday we could not fly due to higher winds than we like to fly in, so we helped each other repair, and update PPCs, as well as do some wing inspections. “Wow”, we had one individual who had a 20 plus year old wing (it had no tags on it, so he did not know the exact year of manufacturing of his wing, or the MTOW) of his wing. So we all took part in measuring its porosity with a porosity meter, ( a new wing is over 3500 seconds, a poor wing is ~700 seconds, well his measured “25 seconds” another words there is no way it could fly safely, he scraped it on the spot. But another pilot had a spare used wing that measured over 2000 seconds, with the proper tag on the wing, so he purchased that one. It was all about helping one another learn and be safe this year and a good time visiting.
2027 fly in: tentatively booked for Aug 22,23,24
If you plan on flying at our event, we ask you to ensure your plane is registered and has
